Gary Ratliff was born and raised in Giles County, VA. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a double major in English and Political Science, and later earned a Master’s degree in Human Resources from Lynchburg College. He and his wife, Cheryl, have three children and four grandchildren.

Gary was blessed to be raised in a Christian home where attending Sunday School and church wasn’t optional—it was expected. Over the years, he’s had the opportunity to worship across several church traditions, including Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian congregations. Gary and Cheryl feel especially blessed that a member of their previous church, a reformed Baptist congregation in Salem, recommended Wellspring to them. Finding a Bible-centered church that faithfully preaches the truth of Scripture was important to them both.

In his free time, Gary enjoys walking the Greenfield Trail and working in the yard. He used to play sports but has settled into the role of enthusiastic observer these days. He’s also recently picked up fly fishing gear and is looking forward to giving it a try soon.
